Wæm Vălus Vǐp (/ˈvə̝lus/ /vɪp/ [late] [helmet]) is a subtropical Town located in the Madraměvì District of the Federation of Alveria.

The name Wæm Vălus Vǐp is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Vălus Vǐp was founded by Ms-23r 'K' Zlêgfê, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Wæm Vălus Vǐp has a yearly average temperature of 15°C (59°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 21°C (69°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 9°C (48°F). Wæm Vălus Vǐp receives an average of 215 cm/y (84 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Wæm Vălus Vǐp covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1142 m (3746 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Wæm Vălus Vǐp was founded durring the late 16th century in spring of the year 1472, by Ms-23r 'K' Zlêgfê. The establishment of Wæm Vălus Vǐp suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Wæm Vălus Vǐp was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Vălus Vǐp is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Wæm Vălus Vǐp's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. The town's top tier civilian fortifications have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A look around Wæm Vălus Vǐp makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It’s a quiet town filled with closed scriptoriums, people quietly yet dejectedly reading in isolated places around town, and the occasional book laying in a heap of garbage.

Cultural Notes

Wæm Vălus Vǐp's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Wæm Vălus Vǐp snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Wæm Vălus Vǐp was attacked by savage ogress living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Wæm Vălus Vǐp lost 201 people, 219 livestock, and 85 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 133, when members of Wæm Vălus Vǐp's militia enacted an operation to destroy or capture a particular enemy artifact. The operation was complicated by the officer in charge of Wæm Vălus Vǐp's forces was incompetent, and issue many foolish and-or unprofessional orders. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Wæm Vălus Vǐp's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Wæm Vălus Vǐp's bards, historians, and legend keepers.

History
